New 15-Minute Tron: Legacy Behind the Scenes Featurette

December 11, 2010

Walt Disney Pictures is on the marketing roll to promote their upcoming sci-fi film. A lot of fanboys are surely going to watch Tron: Legacy online, as sequel to the 1982 film which starred Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner. The studio has released several clips, images, posters, and other promotional campaigns because the prequel was not that huge at the box-office. It earned just around $33 million at the domestic box-office but years after its release it has developed a huge cult following and spawned several franchises which included video games, comic books, a planned TV series, and this upcoming sequel.

Disney has then recently released a brand new 15-minute long featurette which shows some behind the scenes shots.  It would whet the diehard fans and can’t wait to watch Tron: Legacy online. But unlike most of the usual behind the scenes clip released that features some interviews from the cast and crew, the latest video is a raw footage while the movie is getting made. Some of the shots include some scenes in the End of the Line club with Michael Sheen as Castor, a flamboyant owner of the bar, and the Flynn’s arcade with Garrett Hedlund who plays Sam, who is out looking for his father who has mysteriously disappeared. Jeff Bridges was also seen a special helmet to record his scenes as CLU 2. Daft Punk, the musical duo, are also walking on the set with their perennial helmets that mask their faces. Michael Koozinski is spotted giving some directions to the cast and crew. There are also takes of Hedlund and Olivia Wilde, who plays the warrior Quorra, doing their action stunts. Hedlund was also seen doing their scene with Boxleitner, who reprises his role as Alan Bradley.

When you see the featurette, you will get to see the ginormous preparation for the film. And come this December 17, you will get to watch Tron Legacy online. It is a lot sleeker, cooler, and grander than the sequel.
